Fill four tall glasses three-quarters of the way with root beer. (You may want to set the glasses on small plates to catch any overflow from the fizz.) Place 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream in each glass. Top with a drizzle of your choice of flavored syrup. Sprinkle the crushed root beer candies over the top, and serve immediately, with long straws and long-handled spoons.
