King Cake Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped
  • zest from 1 orange

Directions

  • In a small saucepan, combine all of the ingredients and bring to a brisk simmer, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat, let cool, remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla bean and transfer to a resealable container. Refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
