Apple Compote

  • Yield: About 6 servings


  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 8 large Golden Delicious apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg


  • Melt the butter in large pan. Add the apple slices and sugar. Cook until the apples are caramelized and tender, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in the vanilla and spices. Serve warm.
