GULFPORT — The slot machines kept ringing at Island View Casino on Monday when Rick Carter and Terry Green opened Phase II of their casino and welcomed chef Emeril Lagasse to the celebration.Gulfport Mayor Brent Warr commented on the sounds of commerce as a background for the second grand opening of the casino in eight months.”Every day we wake up it just keeps getting better and better,” said Warr, who reminded the crowd waiting to get a glimpse of the new casino, “These are Gulfport guys.” Read more »

Island View, Emeril ‘perfect fit’

GULFPORT — Island View Casino kicked it up a notch Monday, opening the second phase of its resort and reminding the crowd there is more to come with an appearance by chef Emeril Lagasse.
“We’ve got something special to show you,” owner Rick Carter said as he unveiled the expansion that nearly triples the size of Gulfport’s only casino.

The addition that opened Monday adds 50,000 square feet of gambling space, and more than 1,000 slots and 32 new table games. The casino has hired an additional 600 workers. Read more »

EMERIL LAGASSE FOUNDATION AWARDS OVER $500,000 IN GRANTS TO FUND CULINARY EDUCATION AND SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS

Total Granted Since January 2006 is Now Over $1 millionNEW ORLEANS, LA (May 9, 2007) – Chef Emeril Lagasse announced today over $500,000 in grants donated by his Foundation toward culinary education and children’s summer programs in the New Orleans area at a reception at Emeril’s Restaurant. With this round of grants, over $1 million has been awarded by the Emeril Lagasse Foundation to New Orleans children’s organizations since January 2006.The programs receiving support will provide New Orleans youth with fun, safe and educational activities during summer break and allow for capital improvement of existing innovative projects. St. Michael Special School, a longtime beneficiary of Chef Emeril Lagasse, will receive funds to renovate its life skills academic lab and kitchen. The Edible Schoolyard at Green Charter School will be able to build an outdoor classroom to serve as the focal point of its edible garden. Read more »

Emeril Promotes Two Seasoned Veterans to Gulfport Restaurant at Island View Casino Resort

Gulfport, MS (Wednesday, March 28, 2007) — Emeril Lagasse has selected long-time Gulf Coast resident and Chef, Steve D’Angelo, as chef de cuisine at his upcoming Emeril’s Gulf Coast Fish House at the Island View Casino Resort in Gulfport, while Jason Lonigro of Emeril’s Delmonico in New Orleans will serve as general manager. The restaurant is expected to open at Island View this summer.D’Angelo is intimately connected with the Gulf Coast area and knows the appeal of its abundant seafood. He and his wife Rebecca served as proprietors of the Bay St. Louis hot-spot Bay City Grill for over six years. Before taking over Bay City Grill in 2001, D’Angelo trained under Emeril Lagasse in 1996 at his flagship restaurant, Emeril’s Restaurant, NOLA in the French Quarter and in Las Vegas, where he helped open Delmonico Steakhouse in 1999. D’Angelo returned to the Emeril’s family in November 2006, after closing his Bay St. Louis restaurant, which sustained damage from Hurricane Katrina. Read more »

Chef Emeril Lagasse Announces New Management at Atlanta Restaurant

ATLANTA, GA (March 23, 2007) – Chef Emeril Lagasse has announced a new management team at Emeril’s Atlanta. Chef Lagasse and Culinary Director Chris Wilson have promoted Chef Michael Blydenstein as Chef de Cuisine at Emeril’s Atlanta. Blydenstein, who has been at Emeril’s Atlanta since it opened in 2003, has worked with Lagasse and Wilson since 1999 when he joined the team as a saucier at Emeril’s Delmonico in New Orleans. While in New Orleans, he gained experience at Emeril’s flagship restaurant, Emeril’s. He is a graduate of the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon, and began his restaurant career at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle. Read more »

New Orleans, LA – Emeril Lagasse’s legendary restaurant, Emeril’s Delmonico, will offer a special Easter Brunch seating on Sunday, April 8 from 10:30am-2:00pm. Easter Sunday is the perfect opportunity to re-establish the long standing New Orleans tradition of Sunday Brunch with friends and family, at one of City’s most famed eateries. Emeril’s Delmonico marks Easter Sunday with the first Sunday Brunch since the institution reopened last October, and is the perfect culinary celebration to indulge after egg hunts and early morning services.

The menu at Delmonico will feature fresh takes on brunch favorites starting with appetizer selections of Duck Confit & Wild Mushroom Strudel and Emeril’s New Orleans Style Barbecued Shrimp with Baked Grits, alongside entrees such as Foie Gras Waffle with Cognac-Maple Syrup, and Pecan Butter and Fried Oyster & Avocado Panini with Tomato Jam. The menu also features Delmonico’s namesake dry-aged prime beef selections including New York Strip, Filet and Bone-in Rib Eye.

Delmonico, an icon in the New Orleans restaurant industry, has been in business since 1895. In 1997, Chef Emeril Lagasse became the owner of the two-story Garden District building and began an extensive historic renovation, honoring the heritage of the building, and embracing the restaurant’s history. Emeril’s Delmonico is located in a two-story structure located on the edge of the historic Garden District. The building is over one hundred years old and has been described as both Victorian and Edwardian in design. The interior reflects a classic understated elegance with high ceilings, wood floors and large paned windows overlooking St. Charles Avenue.

Gala and Auction Raises Record Amount for New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS, LA (October 30, 2006) – Carnivale du Vin, a culinary event and fundraiser for the Emeril Lagasse Foundation raised over $2.5 million dollars to benefit children in the New Orleans area. The sold-out event began with a reception showcasing the chefs of all nine of Emeril’s restaurants, and special Carnivale du Vin bottling, created by honorary event “Bacchus” Jim Clendenen of Au Bon Climat. Afterwards, there was a five course seated dinner featuring food and wine pairings by the world’s top chefs Emeril Lagasse, Wolfgang Puck, Mario Batali, Lidia Bastianich and local pastry chef duo Tariq Hanna and Joel Dondis; with wines by some of the country’s most renowned vintners including Joseph Bastianich (Bastianich Vineyards), Grace and Ken Evenstad (Domaine Serene), Carol and Fred Schrader (Schrader Cellars), Jayson Woodbridge (Hundred Acre), and Suzie and Paul Frank (Gemstone Vineyards).
