“Chefs Charity for Children” Benefiting St. Michael Special School

Monday, January 24 and Tuesday, January 25
Hilton New Orleans Riverside
10:00 am until 2:00 pm

The annual event benefits St. Michael Special School in New Orleans, which serves students 6 to 21 years and older who are developmentally disabled. There is also a program for young adults 22 years and older who attend the Joy Center on the St. Michael’s campus. St. Michael was founded in 1965 by the late Sister Lillian McCormack. It has served more than 5,700 students from the metropolitan and outlying areas of New Orleans.

This year, local chef Emeril Lagasse has invited his friend and fellow Food Network star Chef Mario Batali to the event. Batali is a New York restaurateur (Babbo, Esca and Otto) and is the host of Molto Mario, Mario Eats Italy, and Ciao America on Food Network. He is the author of Mario Batali Holiday Food (Clarkson Potter, 2000), Simple Italian Food (Clarkson Potter, 1998), and The Babbo Cookbook (Clarkson Potter, 2002).

Both Emeril and Mario will do cooking demonstrations for the crowd along with top New Orleans area chefs including John Besh (Restaurant August), Frank Brigtsen (Brigtsen’s), Leah Chase (Dooky Chase), John Folse (Lafitte’s Landing, Bittersweet Plantation), Goffredo Fraccaro and Aldo Marcon (La Riviera), Chris Kerageorgiou (La Provence), Gunter Preuss (Broussard’s), Wong Brothers (Trey Yuen) and David Woodward (Hilton).

Tickets are $45 each, or $450 for a table of ten
(This entitles the guest to viewing of cooking demos, coffee and sweets, a chance to win a prize, and a 2005 Chefs Charity Cookbook)

Tickets are available by calling St. Michael Special School at 504-524-6551

Emeril’s is serious about dining

Posted by: Terrance Pitre

Kendall Hamersly
Miami Herald
Published: Wednesday, November 26, 2003

He is the clown prince of the Food Network, bug-eyed and frantic, throwing together the night’s menu while he kibbitzes with the Emeril Live Band and flirts with the crowd. His catch phrases are as hokey as they are predictable: ”Pork fat is love!” ‘It’s gettin’ happy in here!” and, of course, “BAMM!”
As much butter and oil seem to ooze their way into his TV dishes as could possibly be permitted by law. Yet a visit to the ninth in New Orleans superstar chef Emeril Lagasse’s namesake chain, at the Loews Miami Beach hotel, puts an unexpected spin on this cartoonish pop-culture icon: The man is intensely serious about food.

Emeril Lagasse’s “Health Tiki” Mug

Posted by: Terrance Pitre

emerils.jpgAvailable now exclusively at Emeril Lagasse’s Tchoup Chop® Restaurant in Orlando, FL. The Health Tiki mug is inspired by the Balinese hand-carved Tiki Gods found at the Tchoup Chop Tiki Bar. The mug is available exclusively at the restaurant… there is no online option here and we have no idea if Tchoup Chop has online ordering available. Complete with pierced ears and in a schweeeet emerald green glaze, Emeril’s Health Tiki Mug measures 7 1/4″ and packs a 13 oz. capacity. Sculpted by Squid.

Normally, the mug is $12 and the Mai Tai drink is $12. But at Emeril’s Tchoup Chop® Restaurant, purchased together the cost is $21. In addition to the collectible mug, the Mai Tai recipe is that of the original 1934 recipe!

An irresistible drink in a collective mug, order in person and enjoy the atmosphere of the gorgeous Polynesian styled ambience. Also, don’t forget Tchoup Chop’s delicious appetizers to complement such a original drink.

Can’t make it to Orlando just yet? Order the Tchoup Chop Health Tiki Mug via phone by calling 407.503.2467.
