The chef with the megawatt smile claims a nationwide empire, but his restaurants started in New Orleans. Come taste where it all began.

Certain icons make New Orleans different. Hot jazz on the street corner. Beignets as light as air, paired with coffee that kicks. Bourbon Street in all its rough-hewn glory. And, of course, Emeril Lagasse.

Twenty-five years after arriving in the Crescent City, the man who practically invented the concept of the celebrity chef is a household name and the head of a culinary empire. Luckily for visitors here, he maintains three restaurants in New Orleans, each with its own identity.

Trumpet and Emeril’s Restaurant remind New Orleans “When you have water, make water-aid”

New Orleans, March 17, 2008: Emeril’s Restaurant and Trumpet join chefs and agencies across the country in support of UNICEF’s Tap Project (www.tapprojectnola.org) – a campaign that, during the week of March 16th, will encourage patrons to donate a minimum of $1 for the tap water they would normally get for free or for bottles of water purchased. All of the proceeds will go to UNICEF’s clean water programs, which aim to improve access to safe water and sanitation facilities in schools and communities, while promoting practices in more than 90 countries around the world. Eighteen months ago, Charles Koppelman showed up on the set of “Emeril Live.” Koppelman, a former music industry executive, is an old friend of host Emeril Lagasse’s, although the two had fallen out of touch.

After the show, the celebrity chef remembers asking Koppelman what he was up to these days.

“He handed me his card and it said ‘Chairman of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia,’” Lagasse recalled.

Lagasse was talking Tuesday from New York, filling in the background to the bombshell dropped on Tuesday: the selling of Lagasse’s nonrestaurant holdings to Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia for $45 million in cash and $5 million in stock. Read more »

Emeril Lagasse will soon open his third restaurant on the Strip — Table 10 at the Palazzo.

The celebrity chef’s shows on the Food Network, “Essence of Emeril” and the recently canceled but still airing “Emeril Live,” reach more than 85 million homes daily. “Bam!” — his signature phrase, used whenever he wants to “kick a dish up a notch” by adding some extra seasoning — has become a national catchphrase.

Best known for his New Orleans-influenced cuisine, Lagasse is trained in several cooking disciplines and has honed his craft around the world. Thank you for visiting our site and sending your well wishes and thoughts about ‘Emeril Live’. It is true that we will not continue production of ‘Emeril Live’ after the next filming in December, but I am looking forward to continuing a long working relationship with them for years to come. Emeril Live will continue to air on the Food Network for about two more years, with premiere episodes throughout 2008, and I will continue to host ‘Essence of Emeril’ next year. We are also looking into some specials and other new development opportunities.

’Emeril Live’ has been a wonderful experience over the past ten years, and I’d just like to say how deeply appreciative I am to all the unbelievable staff — many who have been with the show since the beginning. NORTON — Passionate. A single word that pretty much defines the way Emeril Lagasse approaches anything he does, be it his world famous culinary talents, his love of music, golf, fishing or his extensive philanthropic efforts.

America’s most famous chef, the most distinguished alumnus of both Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School and Johnson & Wales University, was on hand at the Tournament Players Club of Boston Monday for his fifth annual charity golf tournament which benefits the J&W Scholarship Fund.
