Emeril’s Delmonico Back in Action on St. Charles Avenue

NEW ORLEANS, LA (Friday, September 12, 2008) – Emeril’s Delmonico, Lagasse’s historic Creole restaurant in the New Orleans Garden District, reopens Monday, September 15th with dinner service at 6:00pm.
Chef Spencer Minch, named one of the “Chefs to Watch” by Louisiana Cookin’ magazine and “Best Executive Chef” by New Orleans CityBusiness, oversees the kitchen at Delmonico. Chef Spencer continues Emeril’s legacy; blurring the line between classic Creole cuisine and contemporary New Orleans cookery, all the while honoring its rich heritage of one of the city’s oldest establishments.
The menu spans from traditional – Crispy Slow Cooked Pork with Creole Dirty Rice and Emeril’s BBQ Shrimp with Baked Grits; to modern – Moroccan Spiced Colorado Lamb Chops and Merquez Sausage with Ratatouille. The restaurant features a Charcuterie program using old-world recipes for sausages and Italian meats – all handmade and cured in-house.
General manager Saleem Nawaz leads the service staff and lends his spirit of hospitality to two-story space, once home to sisters Angie Brown and Rose Dietrich, who managed the restaurant until Lagasse established ownership in 1998. Their influence and rituals remain in the tableside preparation of Caesar Salad, Bananas Foster and Classic Café Brûlot.
Delmonico’s sommelier Russ Bergeron manages the award winning wine portfolio, working closely with Chef Spencer to create unique pairings for his guests. He has developed a collection heavily focused on American Cabernets, to compliment the restaurant’s in-house dry aged prime beef, and offers over 20 daily selections by the glass.
Beginning October 1, Delmonico’s mixologist Dave Berard crafts some of the city’s most revered drinks, part of a new menu of handmade cocktails that are half-priced every weekday from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The intimate bar features live music Friday through Sunday, and the kitchen serves up tasty, cocktail-friendly food like Grilled Duck Confit & Camembert Sandwich, Housemade Pretzels with Dijon-Goat Cheese Fondue and fresh Gulf Fish Ceviche.
Dinner service is from 6:00pm-10:00pm Monday-Sunday. Walk-ins are welcomed and complimentary valet parking is available in front of the restaurant at 1300 St. Charles Avenue. For reservations, please call 504-525-4937 or visit emerils.com.
