Emeril opens new restaurant on Gulf Coast

GULFPORT, Miss. - Chef Emeril Lagasse on Friday opened Emeril’s Gulf Coast Fish House at the Island View Casino Resort, his first new restaurant since 2003.”I hope that this restaurant is a small step toward the recovery of this region and brings new attention to its unique food culture, abundant fresh seafood, game and produce,” Lagasse said.On opening day, Lagasse debuted his “Coastal Creole” cuisine, which he describes as an infusion of New Orleans flavors with seafood from Mississippi. The menu features other Lagasse dishes, such as New Orleans Barbecued Shrimp.The restaurant, Emeril’s 10th, has a total staff of 90. Steve D’Angelo is chef and Jason Lonigro is general manager.It is open seven days a week, with dinner from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 5:30 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.Plans are to add lunch, but a date has not been given.Reservations can be made by calling (228) 314-1515.By CityBusiness staff report
