This is a rich, thick, bacony version of the original and let me tell you, it's amazing. Clam Chowder is so easy to make especially now that fresh clams are readily available in most upscale markets.
If I had to choose one dish to represent my childhood, it would be this. I call this version "new-style" because the kale is cut into thin strips and is cooked only until crisp-tender, which differs from the more traditional version.
Try whipping up a pot of this when someone you know is under the weather...it's super quick and easy!
