Chef Emeril Lagasse Announces Opening Of Atlanta Restaurant
Posted by: Terrance PitreNEW ORLEANS, LA (May 30, 2002) : World-renowned chef and media personality Emeril Lagasse announced today that he will open his newest restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. The new restaurant, the eighth by Lagasse, will be called Emeril’s Restaurant Atlanta. It is scheduled to open in One Alliance Center in Buckhead in summer 2003.
“I’ve always wanted to open a restaurant in Atlanta,” said Emeril Lagasse. “Like New Orleans, Atlanta is a great southern town full of folks who like to enjoy life and have a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to bringing the flavors of New Orleans to a city already alive with warmth and hospitality.
“We are delighted that Emeril has chosen our new building as the location for his new restaurant,” said Christopher Mackenzie, chief executive officer of Trizec Properties, Inc., which developed the striking glass-and-granite-clad, 20-story tower last year. “The Buckhead area has proven to be an ideal location for upscale commercial development, both office and retail. We view Emeril’s Restaurant Atlanta as an exceptional amenity for our clients at Alliance Center and the people they do business with.”
The new restaurant is being designed by the Rockwell Group of New York City. Emeril’s Restaurant Atlanta will occupy a ground floor space of approximately 9,500 square feet and will seat 225 patrons.
Like at Lagasse’s flagship restaurant, Emeril’s in New Orleans, the menu will feature what Lagasse calls “new” New Orleans cuisine, Creole cuisine combined with a variety of ethnic influences.
Chef Emeril Lagasse is currently the chef/proprietor of seven restaurants including three in New Orleans (Emeril’s Restaurant, NOLA and Emeril’s Delmonico); two in Las Vegas (Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House and Delmonico Steakhouse); and two in Orlando (Emeril’s Restaurant Orlando) and Tchoup Chop (pronounced chop-chop), scheduled to open at Universal Orlando’s new Royal Pacific Resort in fall 2002.
Lagasse became a national TV personality with the Food Network’s production of “The Essence of Emeril” and “Emeril Live” which reaches over 70 million homes daily. In addition, Lagasse is a food correspondent for ABC’s “Good Morning America.” Also an established cookbook author, Chef Emeril Lagasse has authored seven books including Emeril’s New New Orleans Cooking, Louisiana Real and Rustic, Emeril’s Creole Christmas, Emeril’s TV Dinners, Every Day’s A Party, Primetime Emeril and the new kids cookbook, Emeril’s There’s A Chef in My Soup! In September 2000, his book sales exceeded two million.
Lagasse’s corporate office, Emeril’s Homebase, is located in New Orleans. Emeril’s Homebase houses Lagasse’s restaurant operations, as well as cookbook and recipe development and testing, product shipping, the emerils.com website, and a store front for Lagasse’s signature products.
