Calling All Cancers: Celestial Food For You Crabs Out There!

As we sail into the month of July, we find ourselves warmed by the sun and, if we’re lucky, basking in its’ glorious rays while lying idly on a stretch of sand cooled by clear waters.

Indeed, it’s not difficult to imagine why the crab symbolizes the astrological sign that covers most of this month—perfect timing! Who wouldn’t want to be a water-bound creature in the dead of summer?

You crabs out there are known for your sensitivity and empathetic natures. Ruled by the Moon, you are subject to mood swings and powerful emotions. We here at emerils.com have been wondering, what kind of food gets those crabs all fired up?

In an attempt to get a handle on this issue I’ve taken the liberty of polling a few of our in-house crabs. Here is what they had to say:

Emeril’s Restaurant General Manager Tony Lott is reportedly fixated on meat. His wife Beth says he’ll eat it any way imaginable. Carol Ripley, our Finance Manager here at Homebase also confides that she really gets excited about a good steak, especially if someone else prepares it! Loleta Brooks, our Homebase receptionist, says that she loves fresh fruit, especially melons, mushrooms, and also likes yogurt and ice cream. Smoothies are her favorite way of having a little of both of her loves.

If all this talk of food has whetted your appetite, perhaps you’d like to cook up a little something special for that Cancerian in your life? Here’s a menu based on what we’ve heard from our crab friends here at Emeril’s Homebase:

Exotic Mushroom Flan with Warm Spinach Salad

Carpetbag Steak with Tasso Hollandaise

Lemon Pudding with Blackberry Coulis
