Move Over Cupcakes, The Doughnuts Have Arrived…

Strawberry Glazed Donut

Oh dear!  I have found that my cupcake obsession of the last couple of weeks has quickly been replaced by a doughnut addiction!  Doughnut Plant, located just east of Chinatown, has got to have the best gourmet doughnuts I have ever tasted!  Everyday, they make their standby flavors (chocolate glazed or peanut butter and jelly) and alongside of those, a couple of daily specials—all of which are available in a yeast doughnut or cake doughnut variety.  On my last visit, I chose one of the daily specials—fresh strawberry—in the cake donut form.   It was a vanilla cake doughnut (that was still warm from the fryer!), topped with a strawberry glaze studded with little chopped pieces of fresh strawberry.  It was soooooooo good and surprisingly, not too sweet!  Washed down with a cup of fresh squeezed OJ…yummy!
