Fresh Coffee

Post Author: Marcel Bienvenue

Having worked, many moons ago, for one of the largest coffee-roasting companies of New Orleans I am always amazed at the mishandling of coffee by friends. Coffee will begin to go stale as soon as you open the package or can so it’s important to store it properly.

It’s best, once you open it, to store it in an airtight container. I prefer using a large glass jar with a rubber seal and metal snap lid, but you can use Tupperware or other such containers. Store the container in a cool dry area (not on top of the stove or near the sink). Don’t store it in the freezer or refrigerator as that will cause pre-staling, and always remember to close the jar immediately after taking the amount you need for your pot.
